Our Delicious Mission

Red Delicious Press is a contemporary printmaking facility; our purpose is to provide an art center which is affordable and diverse in its offerings. Red Delicious Press will include          Printmaking facilities for intaglio, lithography, screen printing, monotypes, woodcuts, paper making and photo imaging.

It will be the only fine art print shop of its kind in the Aurora Colorado area, which is not part of a university campus.

At RDP we use only non-toxic and non-polluting materials and solutions. This ‘green’ approach provides our customers and us with a substantially safer and healthier environment in which to work! All of our inks clean up with soap and water.

Our Founder

Elaine Stires has been a printmaker since 1990 and recently received her B.F.A. from the Metropolitan State College of Denver. She is very active in the local printmaking community and has also participated in various workshops outside of Denver. Email Elaine

Our Press

Big Red Delicious Press

The name of our press is “Red Delicious”, it was built by Peter Marcus and his students who attended the Frogman’s workshop in Vermillion, South Dakota. All the materials used to make this fine press are re-cycled &/or re-used parts! Elaine was in attendance and decided to purchase the press for our shop. The press was shipped to Denver and painted a candy apple red (delicious!).

Red Delicious can handle a wide variety of print media up to 4' wide.

Other Presses

The Red Delicious Press facilities also include 2 Charles Brand etching press's which is on long term loan from The Metropolitan State College of Denver.

In addition we have screen printing equipment including a wash out booth and a Vacuum Table.
