About Us
Red Delicious Press is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2003 as a contemporary printmaking facility. Our purpose is to provide an art center which is affordable and diverse in its offerings. With a wide variety of printmaking options including intaglio, lithography, screen printing, monotypes, woodcuts, paper making and photo imaging, it is the only fine art printmaking co-op of its kind in the Aurora, CO area.

At RDP we use only non-toxic and non-polluting materials and solutions. This ‘green’ approach provides our members and visitors with a substantially safer and healthier environment in which to work! All of our inks clean up with soap and water.

Our Founder
Elaine Stires has been a printmaker since 1990 and recently received her B.F.A. from the Metropolitan State College of Denver. She is very active in the local printmaking community and has also participated in various workshops outside of Denver. Contact Elaine: elainescheffler@gmail.com
Our Presses
"Red Delicious" Press
Our press, “Red Delicious”, often times lovingly called Big Red by our members, was built by Peter Marcus and his students who attended the Frogman’s workshop in Vermillion, SD. All the materials used to make this fine press are recycled and/or reused parts (you can still see the etched signage from their past lives)! Elaine was in attendance and decided to purchase the press for our shop, where it was then shipped to Denver and painted a candy apple red (delicious!).

"Red Delicious" can handle a wide variety of print media up to 4 feet wide, and has been included in events such as Big Ink in 2018!

Other Presses
Our facility also includes Charles Brand etching presses, which are on long term loan from The Metropolitan State College of Denver, as well as a Takach Etching press and many more in varying sizes.

Additionally, we have a dedicated screen printing department that includes a printing area, wash out booth, vacuum table and more, all run by our talented member Dale Tanis.

Press Rate
Memberships include use of all presses and equipment.

Our presses are available for use by non-member artists and students on a half day and full day basis, please contact us for additional information.
